PRIVACY POLICY

Welcome to the ClassicalBeatz privacy policy

ClassicalBeatz.com explains classical music in an accessible way. Before we get back to the music, we want to be clear about privacy: what data is involved, why, and what you can do about it. In short: no accounts, no forms, no ads. There is anonymous visitor statistics and some storage in your own browser.

Who is responsible

The operator of ClassicalBeatz.com is responsible for the processing of the data described on this page.

Visitor statistics with Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site, which pages they read, which country they come from, and whether features such as the quiz, the trainer and the audio get used. That tells us what works. For this, Google sets two cookies (_ga and _ga_…) that last two years. They let Google recognise your browser on a later visit. Google Analytics does not store your IP address. Data is kept for two months. Google Signals (linking to Google accounts for advertising) is switched off, no advertising audiences are set up, and the data is not shared with other Google services or with third parties. Our legal basis is legitimate interest: we want to know whether the site is used. These are analytics cookies with little impact on your privacy. Think of them as the stagehands of the internet: you rarely see them, but they do count the seats in the hall.

Blocking Google Analytics

Prefer not to be counted? You can. Set your browser to refuse cookies or delete them, or install Google's opt-out browser extension: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site keeps working as usual.

What stays in your own browser

The site stores a few things in your browser itself (localStorage, so not a cookie): your progress and scores in the daily quizzes, the deck and session of the trainer, and whether you dismissed the language hint. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. To remove it, clear the site data for ClassicalBeatz.com in your browser. Your progress will then be gone.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify. As our hosting provider, Netlify processes technical server data, such as your IP address and the requests your browser makes, in order to deliver the site.

Links to other sites

The site links to, among others, Spotify and Wikipedia. If you click through, you go to those sites and their own privacy policies apply. We do not load anything from Spotify or Wikipedia: audio and images are hosted on the site itself.

What we do not do

There are no ads on the site and we do not use Google Ads. We have no accounts, forms or newsletter, and we do not collect email addresses.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, and to object to its processing. To use these rights, contact the operator of ClassicalBeatz.com. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the data protection authority in your own country.

Changes

If anything in this policy changes, it will appear on this page, with the date of the latest update.
